Introduction

In a saturated market, with increased compliance and scrutiny people have asked are we crazy! Is it really the right time to set up a tax consultancy business with a heavy focus on R&D?

Collectively, we have spent over two decades in the industry and have seen the good and the bad side of R&D tax relief. As the need for compliance grows it is only a matter of time before the less favourable advisors are no more. Empirical Tax was formed to value long-term relationships, building trust through open and transparent communication.

With the number of software based and DIY claims growing we believe the market lacks the personal touch needed to truly connect with and understand the challenges faced by innovative companies when making a claim. In this article, we will provide insight in to why, at this stage in our professional careers we have taken the step to form Empirical Tax.

#1 Embracing What Makes You Happy

Doing what makes you happy is the cornerstone of a meaningful life. Whether it's pursuing a passion, honing a skill, or embarking on a new adventure, happiness should be at the core of our decision-making process. We wanted to obtain full control of our work life balance to support our young families whilst providing our clients and partners with full support in an ever-changing landscape.

#2 Attracting Like-minded People

Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who share your values, interests, and ambitions can be a catalyst for personal growth and success. With extensive experience in the industry, we have seen a variation in approaches taken over the years. Having worked together for a period we found that our views and ethics very much aligned, with compliance and collaboration at the forefront.

#3 Building Strong Relationships

The saying "people buy from people" holds true when it comes to personal and professional relationships. In a professional context, building strong client relationships is crucial for sustained success. Whether you are a freelancer, entrepreneur, or work within an organisation, nurturing client relationships is a key factor in generating business growth and maintaining a positive reputation. To build meaningful connections with clients and partners we focus on understanding their needs, providing exceptional service, and going above and beyond their expectations. Furthermore, treating our clients as partners rather than mere transactions fosters long-term relationships built on trust and mutual benefit.

Conclusion:

Doing what makes you happy, surrounding yourself with like-minded people, and building strong client and partner relationships are essential components of a fulfilling and successful life. These are the core values we will uphold as we start our journey as Empirical Tax.
